before we left california, i had connected with erin from a girl and her craft box designs as a new blog sponsor [who continues to grace my sidebar each month since!!].  erin is such a sweetheart & makes amazing military wreaths, custom frames + very cool countdown block sets.

a couple of months ago, she sent me a set of USMC themed deployment countdown blocks & i tucked them away for when caleb would be gone.  last week he took a short trip to mainland japan to meet the ship carrying our aircraft from the states, so amelia & i had a fun time counting down the days until he would be coming home!

i loved the packaging style she sent — a big box full of hot pink crinkle confetti paper & a super sweet note card.  the blocks arrived in picture perfect condition & were personalized with our last name!! erin even included chalk so that the block set was ready to use as soon as we received it!!

i love the little details when i order handmade, like this pretty pink tissue paper & a turquoise ribbon wrapped chalk packet…. LOVE!  the top portion of the block set comes off to reveal a hidden compartment perfect for storing chalk [maybe different colors would be fun, too!] or other mini treasures.

the chalkboard blocks wipe clean super easy — love this!! no dirty chalk residue like i remember from school days.  i took a damp cloth & wiped them clean, then dried with another clean cloth.

love these!!! this was a perfect little way to anticipate caleb’s return & will be great when he is deployed next spring.  amelia knows all her numbers up through eight [sometimes nine], so she loved counting down as well.  i loved seeing her point to the blocks & say, ‘two days til daddy’s plane!’

heart-melting, right??

if you haven’t already, be sure you check out a girl & her craft box designs for your own set of countdown blocks [available in different military branches, sports themes & holiday sets!]
